<image:caption>Multnomah Falls, Reimagined – In the early 2000s, I lived in Oregon and Multnomah Falls was a favorite destination. From lush Pacific Northwest foliage to breathtaking waterfalls and architecturally interesting bridges, the region was a veritable expanse of stunning places to explore. After moving to northern Utah, though, I fell in love with snow, mountains, and a myriad of outdoor fun here. I’ve often imagined some of my previous favorite locations (Multnomah Falls) set in my now favorite setting - moody winterscape.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Echoes of Home in the Golden Hour – When I came across this scene (American West Heritage Center in Logan, Utah), it stirred echoes of the childhood farm where I learned to ride horses and spent long hours in the barn, swinging from ropes and crawling through hay tunnels. My grandfather gave me a pair of peafowl he’d raised from eggs—loud, bold companions that followed me everywhere. Though this isn’t the farm I knew, its golden-hour light and familiar shapes brought a flood of early memories and the moment I saw it, I knew I had to paint it.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Green at the Edge of Winter – Well into November, the Logan River Golf Course settles under shifting mists as storm clouds gather over the valley. Autumn’s last colors fade into the fog, leaving the mountains half-revealed and cold. In the distance, a lone flag emerges through the break in the haze—quiet, steady, and marking the edge of winter.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Before the Fields Were Paved – While driving through Logan, Utah, on a hot summer evening, I pulled into the Lee’s Marketplace parking lot for a quick rest—and there it was: a classic red barn with its weathered silo, standing quietly at the edge of the asphalt. A relic of Cache Valley’s farming past, it seemed to hold stories of hay-filled summers and simpler times. The contrast of old and new struck me deeply. Bathed in golden light, the barn felt timeless—an American icon tucked into the everyday. I knew instantly: this wasn’t just a break in my drive, it was a moment worth painting. Along a quiet hiking path beside a sunlit meadow, soft blue mountains stretch in the distance, their calm presence framing the vibrant autumn colors. The scene captures a rare, fleeting moment of light, color, and serenity—experienced by only a handful of artists invited to paint on location. Every brushstroke reflects the privilege of being in a private, untouched landscape, where seasonal beauty and quiet stillness combine, leaving a vivid impression of a world most will never see firsthand.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I Would Do This Day With You Again – In late summer 2025, a rainy van trip to Bear Lake, Utah, unfolded into one of those rare, perfectly imperfect days. A downpour led us to an antique shop in Randolph, Utah, where a small sign read, “I Would Do This Day With You Again.” I didn’t buy it—and later regretted it. At Cisco Beach Campground, rain gave way to stars, a roaring campfire, and gourmet s’mores. The next day delivered epic skies, hours of painting, and a van lockout that felt less like trouble and more like permission to stay exactly where we were. AWARD WINNER</image:caption>

Beyond them, a fountain stirs the lake, while city buildings rise against distant Wasatch mountains. This moment — serene, balanced, and unassuming — reflects the quiet coexistence of the natural and urban. The geese, grounded and grazing, mirror the skyline behind them in a soft, living rhythm. Here, nature claims its place not through grandeur, but through presence — a congregation of life in a shared, breathing space. AWARD WINNER</image:caption>

Inspired by a summer visit to Yosemite, the painting captures the towering granite face of El Capitan mirrored in the water below, framed by drifting clouds and forest reflections. Rather than document the landscape, it evokes a sense of calm and timelessness — a moment where earth, sky, and water seem to pause in quiet conversation. Together, we explored hues leaning toward turquoise, a range of hues she can still perceive. Inspired by her love of mountains, forests, and snow, the painting transforms those landscapes into a personal, visible world just for her. Every brushstroke carries care, memory, and connection—a tangible expression of love. It’s a portrait of the man behind the stage, offered in love and memory, a glimpse of the intensity, warmth, and spirit that shaped him beyond performance. In the golden hush of a country garden, a gentleman speaks with conviction; a lady in a rich violet gown listens with practiced grace. Her fingers turn a wedding band—idly, or perhaps deliberately. The moment appears civil, even tender, yet a quiet tension lingers beneath the bloom. Set against the backdrop of Victorian decorum, this painting reflects on the subtleties of power, performance, and propriety—where listening is often mistaken for learning, and certainty rarely questioned. Grapes, a pear, an apple, and silver goblets rest in timeless harmony—but a jeweler’s loupe slips into the scene, a playful interruption. The speakeasy wasn't just a bar; it was a temple of transgression where pouring became liturgy. The glass assumed the role of chalice, and what began as mere consumption became ceremony. "At the Alter of Gin" captures that tension, inviting the viewer to consider whether we ever simply drink, or whether, each time we raise a glass, we are performing a ritual of devotion. <image:caption>Morning Alcoves at Union Station was painted from direct observation on a clear summer morning in Ogden, Utah. As the sun climbed in the east, it struck the brick and stone with hard, unforgiving light, carving deep shadows into the station’s recesses and window reveals. I was drawn to the tension between illumination and concealment—what the light insists on showing and what the architecture quietly withholds. The partial glimpse of the station’s name felt fitting: a landmark both familiar and momentary, caught in a single, passing hour.</image:caption>

Designed during the French colonial period, its grand arches and sunlit skylights reflect European order layered onto a distinctly Vietnamese rhythm of life. Peach-toned walls and deep green ironwork frame a steady flow of figures—waiting, passing through, pausing briefly on wooden benches. In this loose watercolor, the architecture holds the space, while human motion brings it alive: a place where messages, moments, and histories have intersected for more than a century.</image:caption>

Using blue, red, and yellow hues, the composition contrasts circular and geometric forms cut through by sharp, aggressive slashes of red and blue. These interruptions fracture the order, introducing tension and motion. Organic smears and dragged strokes pull the elements back into cohesion, blurring the line between control and impulse. A center emerges like a quiet gravity well, drawing the eye before sharp, angular strokes cut across it—interruptions, decisions, moments of change. Soft, earthy tones suggest landscape without defining it, while geometric hints at manmade interruptions to these organic connections, blurring the line between control and release, intention and accident.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Snoopy and Sasha sit side by side, eyes wary, sizing you up. Unlikely pals with nothing in common, but one thing is clear—they’re not sold on what’s about to happen. Alert, cautious, and just a little skeptical, they make it obvious: approach at your own risk.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Willow sits, all puppy energy captured in one alert, curious gaze. Alert, body poised, she looks straight at you—sweet, open, and entirely present. Every inch radiates the cautious confidence and wonder of early discovery, a small being ready to explore the world with heart and spirit fully engaged.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Higher-Level Thinking – At a height where clouds pause to reconsider, a giraffe discovers that thinking improves when you take your time chewing it over. While everyone else rushes below, he lifts his problems higher and higher, until they look smaller, lighter, almost humorous. Ideas arrive slowly, loop around, and return wiser. His secret isn’t brilliance; it’s altitude and patience. After all, the best solutions aren’t rushed—they’re mulled, calmly, at a higher level.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Winter Bird 2 – Perched on a snow-laden branch, Winter Bird fluffs his feathers against the cold. The forest behind him dissolves into drifting white, its details softened by falling snow. The storm is heavy, the day is quiet, and warmth is something he must make for himself. He does not fight the winter—he endures it. Small, steady, and alert, he waits it out, a quiet reminder that survival can be gentle, and strength does not need to be loud.</image:caption>
